Noah Hollis
President

Noah is a second year student specializing in Global Politics and minoring in Sexuality Studies. Noah is from Halifax (East Coast, Best Coast!) and also works as a Residence Fellow on campus. He can always be found debating politics and volunteers for Elizabeth May on Parliament Hill in his ‘free time’ (whenever he manages to have some!). Noah plays 4 instruments and always enjoys a good horror movie at the end of the day. Noah is passionate about exploring all aspects of the global and international, particularly those involving electoral and minority rights, and is beyond excited to be your President for this academic year.

Monica Lung
Vice President Academic and Administration

Monica is a third year student specializing in Global Law and Social Justice with a minor degree in French. Passionate about international affairs and eager to challenge existing standards, Monica holds a particular interest in the political frameworks which continually influence international law and intergovernmental relations. When she is not in the library or traveling around the world, Monica loves watching and playing sports, and loves to spend her free time playing basketball and touch football. She also enjoys studying music theory and music history as well as performing classical and baroque music. When she is not doing any of the above, she is most likely drinking coffee or playing with her cat (or both).

Talia Rampelt

Vice President Social

Talia is a second year student specializing in Global Politics with a minor in Environmental Studies. She is from Waterloo, Ontario, and currently works as a Residence Fellow on campus. She volunteers in the office of Elizabeth May on Parliament Hill, and is a proud member of the Carleton Model United Nations Society. In her spare time, she enjoys running, biking, hiking, travelling, and spending time with dogs. Her goals? To learn more about social justice and the environment on a global scale, and to visit every continent (including Antarctica!). Talia is looking forward to fostering community through BGInS social events this year!

Beatrice Borres

Vice President Media and Communications

Beatrice is a second year student specializing in Global Development with a minor in Environmental Studies. She was born in the Philippines and moved to North Vancouver, BC. At the moment, her goal is to try to be fluent in Spanish and Tagalog. Hopefully one day she can confidently say she is multilingual. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, traveling, drawing, and photography. Beatrice is passionate about social justice issues and the environment. In the future she hopes to work in the development and/or environmental field. Beatrice strongly believes that we all have a role to play and have a responsibility to each other and to future generations.

Clémence Nizet
Vice President Finance and Sponsorship

Clémence is a second year student specializing in Global Law and Social Justice with a minor in Russian. She was born in Belgium and moved to Saint-Bruno (Quebec) and then Toronto. She is currently bilingual in French and English, and hopes to become fluent in Spanish as well as Russian in the future. She is currently part of the Carleton Ultimate team and enjoys falling behind on readings and assignments by participating in weekend tournaments and early morning practices. In her rare free time she enjoys hiking, skiing and reading. In the future she hopes to become an international trade lawyer and to promote fair trading practices on an international level.

Alec Verch
Upper Year Representative

Alec is a second year student specializing in Migration and Diaspora Studies. He has spent his whole life living in Canada’s beautiful National Capital Region and is presently working in the Department of Canadian Heritage. When Alec is not in class, you can likely find him spending his paycheque at Starbucks, working out in the gym, or volunteering in the Student Experience Office where he is excitedly preparing to serve as a Team Lead on a community service learning trip to Nicaragua this spring. Alec is passionate about world issues and healthy active living, and hopes to one day apply his degree to aid in the facilitation of athletic opportunities for adolescents living in refugee camps. Alec is proud to serve as the second year representative and is especially looking forward to all of the exciting events the Academic Society has planned for this year.

Maximilian Lee
First Year Representative

Maximilian Lee (or Max) is a first year student from Vancouver, BC specializing in Global Law and Social Justice. He is very excited to be a part of the BGInS program and the academic society. For the rest of the year, Max hopes to learn more about the world, survive the Ottawa winter, and communicate the needs of first year students. Feel free to talk to him anytime through email or social media if you have any comments, questions, or concerns!
